How many coats?

The surface we’re painting/staining, the products we’re using, and the color we’re painting all help to determine how many coats we apply. As a rule of thumb, brush/roll gets 2-3 coats, stains gets 1-2 coats, and spray coats get 1 spray coat which equates to much more than any arm can apply. No matter what, though, we always paint until it’s customer approved!

Spray, brush, roll.

Yes! We need the weather to be at 39 degrees Fahrenheit as the paint dries. Those projects will take longer, of course, but it is perfectly safe to paint your exterior in Georgia in the winter!

Yes!

At Three Brushes we handle all of our own prep work. If we’re painting it and it needs fixing, we do it ourselves. The reason for that is to ensure a beautifully painted AND sealed house. I see it far too often where the carpenter or GC did the repairs and prep, but since they’re not painters they don’t quite know how to prep it to be sealed and paint ready. An improperly replaced piece of siding or trim not only looks unsightly, but will lead to problems sooner than necessary.

Typically once a year, but that is also on a case by case basis. If your house sits directly in the shade, you might be looking at twice a year to help with the mold and mildew build-up the sun won’t take care of. If you have a full house of kids and pets, or you entertain more, that deck probably sees more wear and tear.

Yes. We stain decks, fences, and cedar siding.

Yes, and we pass our contractor’s savings directly to our clients.

With our help! Choosing a color for your home or office can be very overwhelming! With so many colors out there, deciphering between all the tones and hues can be daunting and the last thing we want is our clients feeling regret over a color. We get a scope of the landscape for exteriors, and what fabrics, art, and lighting we’re given in an interior space. From there we interview our clients and begin our suggestions.

About 7-12 years depending on various factors such as products used, siding type, how much or little sunlight the property gets, what maintenance is done regularly, and what color we go with. For a stain, we’re looking at 3-5 years, tops.

We like to be the last people there to ensure our work doesn’t get scuffed. Even the best flooring company sometimes can’t avoid hitting baseboards and walls.

Yes! We move furniture, protect it, and move it back. If it’s something that requires dismantling we do not do that, but again we protect everything.

We use sliders to move heavy furniture so as to not scuff floors. We use a combination of paper, plastic, and drop cloths to protect floors and furniture.

No, and you don’t want that. Cookie cutter pricing backs clients into a splash-and-dash corner. We look at each project for the prep work it entails and the level of detail our clients have expressed during our initial walkthrough. Boutique pricing allows us to give our clients the best possible prices for exceptional work!

No, but we also aren’t handymen. So we’ll take something like a wall or a single ceiling. We do not take jobs as small as a tiny touch-up paint on a portion of a wall.

Jobs exceeding 3 days we take 20% down and final payment upon walkthrough.
